What is a fisheries region?
Fisheries regions are public corporations established to develop fisheries within their respective areas. They promote collaboration among their members – owners of water areas and nationwide fishing organizations – to ensure the sustainable management of fish resources. There are 118 fisheries regions in Finland. The Kirkkonummi-Siuntionjoki Fisheries Region covers the marine area and the lakes and rivers within the municipalities of Kirkkonummi and Siuntio, as well as the lakes and rivers in the municipality of Vihti and the city of Lohja that belongs to the Siuntio River catchment area.
